Fixed Star Al Hecka

Taurus Constellation [Stellarium]

The Sun joins Al Hecka on June 15

Fixed star Al Hecka, Zeta Tauri, is a 3.01 magnitude bright blue binary star located on the tip of the Southern Horn of the constellation Taurus the Bull. Spectral type B2 IIIpe.

The origin of the traditional Arabic name Al Hecka is obscure, but it closely resembles Al Hak’ah, which means The White Spot (on the horn tip). In ancient Babylon, it was called Shurnarkabti-sha-Shutu, the southern star bull horn.

In China, ζ Tauri is called 天關, Tiānguān, or Tien Kuan, which means Celestial [Frontier] Gate, an asterism within the Net (畢宿 Bì Xiù) mansion. On June 30, 2017, Zeta Tauri was officially named Tianguan by the International Astronomical Union.

Al Hecka Astrology

Al Hecka is of the nature of Mars. It gives violence, male violence and danger of accidents. Sometimes called “The Driver”. [1]

ζ Tauri. A bluish star with peculiarities. Spectral class B2p. Located on the Bull’s south horn. Anciently, this star was considered of mischievous influence, and also violently malevolent. Apparently, it was at one time an orange star. This star imparts to its natives a fondness for power, ability to lead, kingly preferment, high honors, wealth, renown. Negatively — gives its natives a sense of suspicion, leaning towards questionable associates, unpleasant habits. [5]

Al Hecka, ζ Tauri, marks the tip of the bull’s southern horn and, as we might expect for this piece of weaponry, Ptolemy classed it as a Mars star. Tracing the Arabic origin of the name is not made easy, early Western scholars having generally made a poor job of that language. It may derive from Al Qarn, The Horn, a difficult near-K sound for us to pronounce, but more closely, it resembles Al Haikal, which can mean either a Huge Beast (such as a bull) or a Temple. To the Chinese, it was Tien Gwan, the Heavenly Gate, so the Arabic ‘Temple’ is at least as likely as Huge Beast. One further possible Arabic origin is from Al Hak’ah, the White Spot (on the horn tip).

Astrologically it is counted an unfortunate star. Al Hecka gives a combative nature with the tongue, and sometimes manually too, which can indeed lead to misfortune, although the victim may well be convinced that it is ‘all for the cause and that the ‘reward in Heaven’ will compensate for the suffering here below. [3]

Al Hecka represents the 13th vertebra from the top of the spine (6th dorsal). [4]

Constellation Taurus

Ptolemy makes the following observations: “Those stars in Taurus which are in the abscission of the sign resemble in their temperament the influence of Venus, and in some degree that of Saturn . . . the stars in the head (except Aldebaran) resemble Saturn, and, partly, Mercury; and those at the top of the horns are like Mars.” By the Kabalists Taurus is associated with the Hebrew letter Aleph and the 1st Tarot Trump “The Juggler.” In all the ancient Zodiacs, Taurus is the beginning sign and marked the Vernal Equinox from about 4,000 to 1,700 B.C. [1]

The constellation was an object of worship in primitive cultures throughout the ages. To the ancient Egyptians, it was the bull-god Orissi, but according to R. A. Allen in Star Names and Their Meanings, the star was also worshiped by the Babylonians, Chinese, Druids, and some tribes of Amazon Indians. Its stars, according to Tetrabiblos are: “…like Venus along the line where the constellation is cut off [Taurus is represented as the head and fore-part only of a charging bull. These are the stars 5-Tau, 4-Tau, 3-Tau, 0-Tau, and 30-Tau.]: those in the Pleiades have the nature of the Moon and Jupiter; the one in the Hyades that is bright and somewhat reddish called Troch (Aldebaran) has a  ‘temperament’ like that of Mars; the others (in the Hyades) like that of Saturn and moderately like that of Mercury; and those (stars) in the tips of the horns, like that of Mars.” With the exception of El Nath (constellation of the Charioteer), all the named stars in Ptolemy’s catalog of this constellation are in the Hyades and Pleiades. The Bull is now called Taurus (Tau) and traditionally presages the results of the beginnings of large political undertakings. The constellation also portends that which affects wild animals, especially those dangerous to man. [2]

(No orb): This is a difficult energy point in the body. The vertebra becomes slightly twisted causing a disruptive energy flow to this area. The problem is incurable. These persons are unable to bend at the waistline, and must wear a support to relieve the pressure from the rest of the body. Sitting does not relieve the stress but actually aggravates it. They do not accomplish much in this life due to the fact that they are in pain most of the time. Another difficulty can be experienced through an inflammation of the pancreas, thus bringing on pain when digesting their food. These persons should not drink alcoholic beverages as they can also experience an inflammation of the kidneys. This is a very karmic position as these individuals have limited their accomplishments in this lifetime. If the planet Neptune is square to Uranus at this point, the vertebra will begin to literally dissolve. Attempts to place an artificial piece at this point will only result in failure to solve the problem. [4]
