The 2018 North Korea–United States Summit with Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un takes place at 9:00 am on Tuesday June 12, 2018 at the Capella Hotel in Singapore. The astrology chart for the Summit has some very good fixed stars and aspects that give hope of a successful outcome. But Pluto on the Descendant means there are some powerful and dark forces working behind the scenes to derail any hopes of a peaceful settlement.
The most personal point in any horoscope is the Ascendant. It is especially important in this case because the focus is a one-to-one relationship, shown in the horoscope as the relationship axis of the Ascendant and Descendant.
The Rising Sign is Cancer but the Rising Constellation is Gemini. The rising star is Wasat at 18°46′ Cancer Sign. This double star in the waist area of the Twins literally means “the Middle”. Morse [1] says it gives the ability to speak with clear authority when others are waffling, and prominence in public affairs or management. After much research I found that Wasat rising signifies partnership and compromise.
Pluto opposite Ascendant (2°32′) makes for an intense interaction between Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un. This meeting has profound consequences for many people in the world. The expectations of each leader are likely to change as the relationship between their countries transforms.
Powerful forces and dramatic event have led to this summit. The power balance has shifted and each leader has tried to assert dominance through displays of power, threats and intimidation. Pluto setting also suggests one particular leader is a strong driver of change. They could positively transform the other leader, totally change their life’s direction, and give them greater personal power and influence.
However, there is a chance that people are acting behind the scenes to damage the relationship between Trump and Jong-un. Ruthless, vengeful people seeking war who want the summit to fail. This aspect can also signify a meeting between two enemies, an openly confrontational relationship. Conflict, personal attacks, abuse, violence, humiliation, loss of power, denial of human rights, punishment, war and annihilation are all possibilities.
Pluto also rules nuclear weapons. Pluto and the Descendant are conjunct fixed star Dheneb at 20°03′ Capricorn. Its Constellation of Aquila the Eagle rules the U.S.A., bombs and missiles. The star itself gives ability to command, liberality, success in war and beneficence. But the rising star suggests compromise will result in a positive transformation of the relationship. There are also two other aspects to the Ascendant which point to a successful summit.
Jupiter trine Ascendant (3°37′) encourages warmth, generosity and optimism. This could even be a friendly relationship making both leaders happy and content. Each leader will learn, grow and build mutual understanding. This aspect points to groups of politicians and diplomats, and the long distance journeys involved in coming together. It also fosters greater tolerance and understanding between different cultures and races.
Neptune trine Ascendant (1°41′) makes each leader more sensitive to the feelings and needs of the other. It makes them less selfish and gives an intuitive understanding. They may even have shared philosophical, idealistic and spiritual motives.
Jupiter trine Neptune (1°55′) encourages hope, generosity and community spirit. It means this is a destiny meeting of spiritual significance. It makes both leaders more sympathetic, charitable and enthusiastic. They will try to live up to their highest ethical and moral standards. It involves social justice, human rights and the plight of innocent victims or war and greed.
Moon conjunct fixed star Algol at 26°24′ Taurus sounds like a bad omen because this star is associated with misfortune, violence, decapitation and hanging. It does means there are many difficulties and obstacles to overcome. But the Moon rules the past, and memories of the nastiness, trauma and sorrow suffered by their people during the Korean War. With the right spiritual and philosophical inclination, Algol can help the leaders let go of the past and replace fear with faith. Donald Trump has Midheaven conjunct Algol.
Moon sextile Venus (1°22′) makes that positive manifestation of Algol more likely. It encourages openness, honesty, true friendship and genuine love. It is a good omen for a successful and peaceful relationship.
Venus conjunct fixed star Procyon at 26°01′ Cancer gives many benefits from influential friends and is favorable for gain. Donald Trump has Venus conjunct Procyon.
Pluto square Midheaven (0°01′) is the strongest aspect in the Summit horoscope and it can mean one or both leaders are obsessed about achieving a particular result or outcome from the summit. It points to subversive tactics, secrets and plots, and interference from others trying to stop the summit and derail the negotiations. Hidden tensions may come to the surface as both leaders exert their will and try to force the other the change their plans.
Sun sextile Midheaven (0°17′) is also a strong influence and gives the leaders the ambition and confidence to reach a positive outcome. It means they will feel a sense of satisfaction and pride from the results of their efforts. This aspect helps them understand the goals, work out how to get there and make definite plans for the future. It will make them enthusiastic but also realistic.
Sun quincunx Pluto (0°18′) makes this a major turning point in world history resulting from a crisis or threat. The pressure has built to an intense level. The leaders may fear losing their personal power. Control and manipulation could result in conflict and bruised egos. A good outcome will have a positive effect on many people and humanity in general, but needs compromise, less ego, and trust in a higher power. This is an evolutionary process with karmic causes and implications.
The Sun is conjunct fixed star Capella at 22°06′ Gemini. So this is definitely a destiny meeting at the Capella hotel in Singapore. Robson [2] said it makes people vacillating, changeable, too loquacious and fast talking. It suggests the leaders will be misunderstood and criticized, especially Donald Trump who also has Sun conjunct Capella.
